A simple gesture that brings two regions together, nearly 3,000 meters above sea level
At Passo dei Salati (2980 m), an extraordinary and symbolic moment awaits: on Saturday, August 23, Piedmont and the Aosta Valley will join hands, celebrating friendship and unity through the mountains.
“Hand in Hand at the Pass” is a public event open to everyone. Participants from both sides of Monte Rosa (Alagna and Staffal) will meet at the border between the two regions to form a human chain, hand in hand, symbolizing solidarity and togetherness.
Event Schedule:

9:30 AM – Meeting at the cable car ticket offices in Alagna Valsesia (VC) and Staffal – Gressoney-La-Trinité (AO)

10:00 AM – Ride up by cable car to Passo dei Salati

11:00 AM – Human chain formation: a powerful symbolic gesture linking the two regions

From 11:30 AM – Snacks, children’s games, and gift items, with performances by traditional Walser folk groups from Alagna and Gressoney
