Two separate departures are possible from the city center of Guardabosone or from the parking lot of the Borgosesia cemetery. The two paths join at the small church in the Vanzone wood and then continue in the direction of Varallo.
The first descends to Agnona through the Bocchetto road, crosses it and heads to Isolella and then passes the SP 299, the bridge over the Sesia and the SP 8.
From here, going up the small road of the old Isolella station, you reach the town of Vanzone and enter a suggestive wood. The second crosses the town of Cagi, follows the road in the fields of Rozzo and Caneto and enters the woods where it meets the first. The two paths have now become one, which after crossing the entire forest, reaches the outskirts of Quarona in the Badia area.
Crossing the SP 8 and the pedestrian bridge of the railway, continuing north, you reach the town of Quarona. After a short stretch along the SP 8, the route turns to the left, and crossing the innermost districts of the municipality, it passes the railway tunnel again and continues down the dirt road towards the Sesia. Once you have passed the overpass of the SP 299, passing under it, you enter the woods that leads to the industrial area of Roccapietra.
From here, following the signs, you pass the sports field and arrive in the town. Crossed the SP 8 again, take the road to Cilimo where after about a km, the signs invite you to turn left. The path here is a suggestive cobblestone that first flanks some chapels and then goes into the fields up to Pianpresello.
The road that comes from Civiasco (SP 78) leads up to Varallo, up to the departure station of the Sacro Monte cable car, through the most characteristic part of the city of Varallo and its historic districts.
Which bike to choose?
Better a Mountain Bike, but the path is also suitable for other ones. If you need to rent it, you can do it in Varallo, Scopa, Mollia and Alagna.
We always advise you to check the conditions of the route before leaving and to request information and a map from the nearest Tourist Office.
