When one turns one's gaze from the valley floor toward the white glaciers of Monte Rosa and the four-thousand-meter peaks that dominate the Val d'Ayas, one can see, nestled on the soft slopes rising from the woods above Saint Jacques, the small village of Resy, a group of dwellings suspended between sky and mountain. The houses that make it up are beautiful rascards of the Walser tradition, ancient buildings that once served as a stopover for those coming from the Swiss valleys who had to reach Staffal or Gressoney, and that today welcome hikers who travel the Alta Via, the trail that runs along the entire perimeter of the Aosta Valley.
