A widespread exhibition, a real journey with (and through) the lifts between the stations of Alagna, Alpe di Mera and Varallo, in Valsesia. Ropelines is the story of how rope transport has united people, lives, places, professions and ideas on Monte Rosa and around the world, and how it continues to do so, with an eye to the future. It is the story of peoples, visionary men, technology and mountains. It is connection, exchange, development.
Ropelines digs into archives, drawers, people's memories. It brings back stories and objects, re-presenting them in places where there are modern lifts today, but which in the past hosted amazing feats. A narrative between past, present and future. A wire. The rope.
The exhibition will take place into the stations of the lifts: Varallo-Sacro Monte cableway, Scopello-Alpe di Mera chairlift, Alagna-Pianalunga cableway, Pianalunga-Passo dei Salati cableway, also involving some central areas in the villages of Alpe di Mera and Alagna Valsesia.
Opening is scheduled for June 29, 2024. The exhibition will be open to visitors until September 15, 2024.
During the exhibition period, some events will involve the three destinations and will lead the visitor to delve deeper into the topics covered.
