We leave the car at the Staffal ski lift car park.
The trailhead is a few hundred metres ahead; we follow the service road of the mountain huts until we come to the ski slopes.
We follow a track already used by other hikers, which runs alongside the slopes, until we reach the mountain station at Lake Gabiet.
Here we cross the beaten track (trail 6b), which leads to the Oreste Hutte hut in approx. 1 hour.
The descent is via the same trail as the outward journey.
