“Km 0” Guided Walks in Gressoney
Spring – May / June 2026
A series of guided excursions to discover the Gressoney Valley through nature, history, and traditions. Every Saturday features a different theme, led by nature guides, exploring alpine landscapes, local culture, and biodiversity.
Excursion Schedule
Saturday, May 2 – The Path of the Bell Towers
A journey through history, spirituality, and landscape. We’ll follow a scenic route connecting several chapels in Gressoney-Saint-Jean, passing through pastures, ancient hamlets, and the Lys stream. A journey through traditions and symbols of Alpine devotion.
Saturday, May 9 – In the Footsteps of the King of the Alps: the Ibex
An excursion dedicated to the ibex, symbol of the Alps. We’ll learn about its habitat, behavior, and adaptation strategies, with the chance to spot it in its natural environment.
Saturday, May 16 – Walser Architecture and Ancient Stories
An immersion in Walser culture among ancient villages and traditional wooden and stone buildings. We will discover the “stadel” and the traditional knowledge associated with life at high altitudes.
Saturday, May 23 – In Search of Medicinal Herbs
A walk through meadows and woods to discover wild plants. We’ll learn to identify medicinal and edible herbs, exploring their scents, colors, and traditional Alpine uses.
Saturday, May 30 – Queen Margherita
A journey through history and landscape dedicated to Queen Margherita of Savoy, who chose Gressoney as her favorite place. We will revisit the places she loved, exploring both nature and architecture.
Saturday, June 6 – The Return of the Wolf
An in-depth look at the wolf and its role in the Alpine ecosystem. Through history, legends, and reality, we will explore the significance of its return to the Alps.
