Capanna Margherita is the highest refuge in Europe at 4554 metres.

The hut stands on the summit of Punta Gnifetti in the Monte Rosa massif and is one of the highest fixed observatories in the world. It was erected by the Cai di Torino and inaugurated on 18 August 1893 in the presence of the Queen of Italy, Margherita di Savoia, after whom it was named. The Queen was known for her interest in the mountains and mountaineering, and is famous for being the first woman to climb Monte Rosa back in 1889.

The ascent to Capanna Margherita is one of the most important and significant experiences for those who love mountaineering and glaciers, the truest and most exciting mountains, and to enjoy unforgettable and unique views.
