Easy and fun alpine skiing itinerary with difficulty levels restricted to higher areas that leads to the Salati Pass between the Aosta Valley and Piedmont.
From Stafal, on the Gressoney side of the ski resort, you arrive at Gabiet with the Gabiet-Salati Pass cableway. The easy and well marked out track starts after the first wall on the left of the Salati slope, The route then continues along the farm road without posing much difficulty. After the last wall which is slightly more demanding you arrive at the “Stolemberg” Mountain Refuge located on the Salati Pass at a height of 2,971 metres above sea level. The panorama from here is simply breathtaking. Looking towards the south, on a clear day, you can see Lake Maggiore and the peaks of the Apennines, on the horizon to the west, you can see the characteristic and majestic pyramid of Monviso and the Testa Grigia and to the east, waiting to steal your heart the southern face of the Monte Rosa with the Capanna Margherita, namely the highest mountain refuge in Europe on the Punta Gnifetti at a height of 4,554!
