Where to climb in Valsesia? The 'Fun'd Scotte' cliff is one of Valsesia's historic gyms. In the early 1980s, the mountain rescue team of the Guardia di Finanza of Alagna equipped the first itineraries, which were excellent above all as training for mountaineers before they climbed Monte Rosa. Over the last few years, extensive work has been carried out to re-equip all the itineraries by the Alpine Guides of the Alagna Mountain Guides Corps, one of whom is Sandro Borini, who has spent a great deal of time cleaning, re-routing and equipping new lines, concluding the work in the summer of 2012, handing over to climbers a new, well-equipped and interesting crag.
In the same summer, a new route of several lengths was climbed, "la marmitta dei desideri" (10 pitches) by Alberto Zanada, Alberto Zucchetti and Borini Sandro with a maximum difficulty of 6c+ and obligatory 6a+, equipped with 8 diameter stainless steel fixes and chains at the belays plus abseil ring. Immediately afterwards, the best-known of the multi-length routes (Conte Bosch) was also re-equipped and cleaned to the top. The ideal time of year to climb in this gym is from April to October and being west-facing, the sun arrives in the middle of the day so it is possible to climb in the cooler mornings even in the hottest parts of the summer.
Approach: 15 minutes from the Wold square
