Saturday, 26th April, 2025, lifts open on the occasion of the XXIV Mezzalama Trophy

The Mezzalama Trophy ski mountaineering competition at high altitude has three necklines over 4000 meters and will run next April 26.


The historic two-piece team race is part of the prestigious La Grande Course circuit. The Mezzalama Trophy that is about to celebrate 90 years of history was born in 1933 and is the only race in the world to take place on the perennial glaciers of Monte Rosa crossing three four thousand, the summit of Castore (4.126 m), the Nose of Lyskamm and the Roccia della scoperta (4.177 m). The kilometers of this incredible crossing, from Breuil-Cervinia to Gressoney-La-Trinité, are 45, while the total climb is 3.272 meters.

Lifts open only on April 26, and only if the race takes place

Given the public interest and expectations around the long weekend of April 25, it is important to clarify that the lifts on the Staffal–Punta Indren and Alagna–Punta Indren routes will be open to the public only on the day of the race, April 26, and only if the event is confirmed.

In the event the race is postponed due to adverse weather conditions, the lifts will reopen exclusively on the new date of the Mezzalama Trophy.

The opening time is scheduled for 6:30 a.m..

     • Staffal–Gabiet cable car → 4:45 PM
     • Gabiet–Passo dei Salati cable car → 4:15 PM
     • Passo dei Salati–Punta Indren funifor → 3:45 PM

  • Alagna–Punta Indren route:
     • Alagna–Pianalunga cable car → 4:45 PM
     • Pianalunga–Passo dei Salati funifor → 4:15 PM
     • Passo dei Salati–Punta Indren funifor → 3:45 PM

  • Round-trip ticket Alagna–Punta Indren: €10.00
