Monterosa Prestige, the mountain bike marathon of the Alps

By: Visit Brusson

Monterosa Prestige

The MONTEROSA PRESTIGE reaches its fifth edition on 24 June 2023 with the start from the Brusson lake, the Monte Rosa mountain bike marathon will climb a brand new route to let enthusiasts enjoy the breeze of altitude, the challenge and the tenacity that only a mountain bike can give in such an extreme environment as that of the Val d'Ayas.

Extreme but also beautiful and exciting, full of breathtaking views of the Matterhorn, Mont Blanc and Monte Rosa in a succession of real climbs and descents to be ridden on exciting single tracks.

But the big news are two: the course and enrollment.

On the one hand, the route has been re-studied and perfected. In recent years, in fact, many had come to realize the need to remove the lowest stretch in the area of the Roman bridges at Challand-St-Victor which, despite being a beautiful stretch both downhill and uphill to ride on a a mountain bike, made Brusson's return to the finish line exhausting. That section was removed last year, in this way the race remains entirely between the 2500 meters of altitude of the Base Camp, the highest point of the race in front of the Breithorn glaciers and 1135 altitude at the end of the descent of the Bechaz mines in the Municipality of Challand-St-Anselme.

So you don't lose too much altitude and you avoid the difference in temperature between the altitude at which you pedal in the Municipality of Ayas and that of Challand.

In addition, the route reviews the additions and changes that had been made last year, ultimately here are the two definitive routes:

MONTEROSA PRESTIGE EXTREME 2023: 73.53 KM; 2885D+
MONTEROSA PRESTIGE CLASSIC 2023: 53.7 KM, 1976 D+

Also this year, the event will continue beyond Saturday, in the classic non-competitive event for the little ones.
The MONTEROSA PRESTIGE KIDS is a non-competitive race aimed at children aged 4 to 12 and will take place on Sunday 25 June 2023 in the morning starting at 09:00 in the starting area of the Brusson Foyer. The little ones will thus have the opportunity to test themselves on a short stretch of the route taken by the athletes on Saturday to fully enjoy the PRESTIGE experience.
