Typical product-DECO

What are the typical food products you can find in Alagna?

In Alagna, a small Walser community perched under the south face of Monte Rosa, taking care of the territory is a priority.
The first Walser colonizers who settled on this land 900 years ago, realized this when they began to create new pastures and new areas to cultivate.

Today we still have the same idea! We take care of our land and grow quality products: high altitude potatoes, apples, vegetables and small fruits without the use of chemical fertilizers. We tend to our cattle, sheep and goats in the rich pastures under Monte Rosa and we take the utmost care of the land.

What are our typical products?Cheese, salami and cold meats, potatoes, vegetables, apples, blueberries, raspberries and more! But we have an added value; the Municipality of Alagna certifies all km 0 cultivated products (from the farm directly to the table) with the De.Co. LABEL which is a guarantee of products grown, made and distributed in Alagna. Deco supports local family-run farms, takes care of and maintains pastures, stimulates the recovery and reintroduction of traditional products: a brand to keep an eye on if you are looking for genuine artisan food products.
