Cicle path Scopello-Mera-Meggiana-Rassa-Scopello

Panoramic and exciting, this path is a true immersion in the unspoiled nature of Valsesia!

Someone choose to ride it entirely, starting from Scopello. They put an immediate a strain on the muscles along the climb to Mera on paved road. Most cyclists choose instead to use the chair lift departing from Scopello, to start their ride from Mera. Given the length of the itinerary, the latter is certainly the best solution, especially if you are traveling with the whole family.

Departure: Scopello Piazzale Seggiovie
Arrival: Scopello
Length: Km.37.9
Difference in height: uphill mt. 1.286, downhill mt. 1.285
Duration: 4.5/5 hours
Physical difficulty: medium/easy
Technical difficulty: medium
E-Bike charging stations: Meggiana (km 17), Campertogno
Period: spring, summer, autumn

Parking: Piazzale Seggiovie, large and free parking area.

The cycle path starts right in front of the arrival of the chair lift, where a steep ramp leads to the foot of Monte Camparient.

The sign with a yellow background, a stylized figure of a cyclist, and the number 2 on a blue background will guide you. You will find it in Mera, but also in Scopello, if you want to ride from there.

You can travel the inizial climb by hand bike, as it’s really steep. Once got it, you’ll cross Alpe di Mera on a wide and easy dirt road, through pastures, blueberry and rhododendron bushes.

The panorama on Monte Rosa, but also on the valley and on the peaks of Mera will thrill you!

Without significant difficulties, you will first reach Alpe Meggiana, at the height of the suggestive Lago del Pizzo, then Alpe Sorbella. From here begins a rather demanding first downhill section. As suggested by the indications, prepare yourself to face it with by hand bike.  Once you have passed Rassa and reached the Quare bridge you can choose whether to continue towards Alagna on the PCV 1 or return to Scopello.

Which bike to choose?

Definitely a Mountain Bike or an E-MTB, and if you need to rent it, you can do it in Varallo, Scopa, Mollia and Alagna.

We always advise you to check the conditions of the route before leaving and to request information and a map from the nearest Tourist Office.
