A Crafts Fair, Rencontre des artisans de la Vallée, is held the second to last Sunday in July in the streets of Rhêmes-Notre-Dame, a picturesque town which encircles its parish church.
It is a typical Aosta Valley crafts fair with display and sales of crafts products.
Each year the streets of the historical village fill for the entire day with a colourful, cheerful crowd of people who inspect the numerous different stands until nightfall, which are filled with traditional Aosta Valley crafts: wood and wrought iron sculptures, items in serpentine, leather items, fabrics in linen and hemp, chopping boards, antique farm tools, furniture, toys and masks.
Thus it is a perfect occasion for admiring Aosta Valley’s traditional crafts, buying them directly from the producers and also seeing the production techniques. It is definitely one of the most important appointments for promoting the region’s traditional crafts.
The event is paired by a twinning with the town of Solarolo (italian region of Emilia-Romagna) in an interesting combination of flavors and friendship.
