Traditional day dedicated to the Mountain Guides of Courmayeur , a kind of celebration of the mountain and of those who live there, work there or go there for pleasure.
The guides, in historical uniform with wide-brimmed hat, beige suit, rope rolled over the shoulder, ice ax and crampons, march in parade accompanied by the women of Courmayeur in traditional costume and by the Courmayeur-La Salle marching band.
They initially go to the cemetery and after the Holy Mass and the blessing of the ropes and ice axes they parade in the central street to the Jardin de l’Ange for the official ceremony.
