At an elevation of 2,172 meters, the village of Sant'Anna is one of the most picturesque spots in the Gressoney Valley. Surrounding the small chapel dedicated to Saint Anne is an extraordinary panorama: to the south, the view takes in the Lys Valley and the towns of Gressoney-La-Trinité and Gressoney-Saint-Jean, while to the north stands the imposing Monte Rosa range, from Punta Castore to the Vincent Pyramid.
Next to the chapel stands a large panoramic viewpoint, which has become one of the most popular spots for capturing the full beauty of the Monte Rosa Massif in a photograph.
Sant’Anna can be reached on foot from Staffal by following Trail No. 8 or conveniently in just a few minutes by cable car, which also operates during the summer season.
Just above the village, the Sant’Anna–Colle Bettaforca chairlift takes you to an elevation of 2,727 meters, the starting point of Trail No. 9, which climbs toward the Quintino Sella Refuge—an ideal destination for hikers wishing to get closer to the Monte Rosa glaciers.
During the winter, Sant’Anna becomes a gathering place for snow enthusiasts. It features a dedicated cross-country skiing loop and serves as a strategic hub for skiers and ski mountaineers exploring the Monterosa Ski area, immersed in a unique alpine landscape at the foot of the Monte Rosa four-thousanders.
